Prepare these supplies:

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Paper towels
  • Sponge
  • Vanilla extract

Follow these steps:

Mix some supplies

Fill the microwave-safe bowl with the water and add two tablespoons of white vinegar.

Heat up the mixture

Put the bowl with the mixture in the microwave and heat it up for around 5 minutes. The mixture should reach the boiling point and create a steamy temperature. Keep in mind that it shouldn’t bubble over the top of the microwave.

You can microwave the mixture longer if 5 minutes don’t boil the mixture enough.

Let the mixture work

Once the mixture is boiled, leave it inside for around 3 minutes before you take it out. It is to let the steam of the mixture handle the stains and kill the bacteria in the interior of the microwave.

After 3 minutes, take a look through the window and if the water has condensed around the interior, you can remove the bowl. Be careful that the bowl might be still hot.

Clean the turntable

Once the bowl is removed and you have disposed of the mixture, you can start removing the turntable so you can clean it conveniently. To do the job, you just have to dip the sponge or clean cloth into the soapy water and then clean it up properly.

Wipe the interior

Wipe the sides of the interior with a clean microfiber cloth or paper towels before you reinstall the turntable back. Wipe the surface from top to bottom, and don’t skip the door.

If you find some difficult stains or grease, you can scrub them with a sponge. Put the turntable back in its spot once you have finished wiping everything.

Clean the exterior

To clean up the exterior of the microwave, you can use the all-purpose cleaner and wipe the cleaning agent with a cleaning cloth or paper towel. Don’t skip the heavy-duty parts like the microwave’s handles and buttons.

Odorize the microwave

You may still find that your microwave still smells bad after the cleaning process, that’s the time when you need to use vanilla extract.

Just follow the steps below to odorize your microwave after cleaning:

  • Mix a few drops of vanilla extract and water in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Heat it up inside the microwave for around 2 minutes.
  • Leave the mixture inside for around 30 minutes before you take it out.
  • Once the time is up, wipe the interior with paper towels or a cleaning cloth.
