For sure, you need to deal with them as soon as possible before they invade your house and you can actually get the job done all by yourself if you know how to do it properly. Our quick guide on How to Get Rid of Wasps below will show you how.

How to Get Rid of Wasps

Protect yourself properly

Here, you are dealing with dangerous animals that are hugely possible to attack you, especially when you are about to get rid of their existence around your property. Wasps can sting over and over again, so it’s highly important for you to wear some protective gear.

It doesn’t mean that you have to purchase the full beekeeper’s suit, though. A thick long-sleeved shirt covered by a thick jacket, hat, a bandana to cover your face, gloves, long pants, thick socks, and shoes are enough to protect you during the execution of this tutorial.

Find their nest

The next step is to find their home around your property. Wasps typically build their nest in trees or hidden spots like wall cavities, roof eaves, crawl spaces, fence posts, and railings. You can inspect those possible areas to find their nest.

Another way that you can do is to watch their flight pattern which will show you the location of their nest. Wasps always come back to their own home after they haunt for some food.

Choose the removal plan

When it comes to getting rid of wasps, you can choose several options that suit you best which include:

  1. Boiling water – You need to be brave enough to pour a bucket of boiling water into the wasp nest which will kill the wasps and destroy their nest all at once in no time. Of course, you will have to face the attack from the score of wasps, so you need to be perfectly ready.
  2. Liquid dishwasher soap – This method is actually to complete the previous one. You just have to add a few teaspoons of liquid dishwasher soap to the boiling water and pour the mixture into the wasps’ nest. This would reduce the risk of wasps’ attack since they may (almost) die already as you pour the mixture.
  3. Pesticides spray – If you are not willing enough to possibly get stung by the wasps, you might need to consider choosing pesticides spray. This might be a bit more expensive than using home remedies, but the wasps would immediately die as you spray their nest from afar.

Set Your Timing

The best way to attack the wasps’ nest is at night. It’s because they are less aggressive and react slower in the dark. The wasps that have stayed inside their nests also pose less of a threat than when they are flying around.
